About the Role
We're looking for a detail-oriented SQL Reporting Analyst to own and maintain a suite of financial and operational reports for a multi-location activity and tour booking business. You'll write and maintain PostgreSQL queries that power cash receipts reporting, sales reconciliation, vendor billing, commission tracking, and desk/channel performance analysis — all feeding into month-end close processes used by accounting.
This is a hands-on SQL role. You won't be building dashboards from drag-and-drop tools — you'll be writing complex CTEs, debugging join fan-outs, and reconciling numbers across reports until they tie out to the penny.
What You'll Do
- Write and maintain SQL reports against a large relational database (100+ tables) covering bookings, payments, refunds, commissions, tips, and vendor costs.
- Build reports in a BI tool (e.g., Metabase) using native SQL mode, including parameterized date filters and field-level variables.
- Reconcile financial reports against each other and against source system UIs — identifying and resolving discrepancies in totals, attribution, and deduplication.
- Handle nuances like rebooking chains (where a single line item can have multiple versions), partial refunds with amount-based matching, and payment allocation across order items.
- Convert and consistently apply timezone logic across all date-based reporting. Work with engineering or a CTO to flag schema issues, request data corrections, and understand table relationships when documentation is sparse.
- Iterate on reports over time as business logic evolves — adjusting discount logic, commission attribution rules, surcharge breakdowns, and staff/desk dimensions.
What We're Looking For
- Strong working knowledge of PostgreSQL — specifically CTEs, window functions, DISTINCT ON, LATERAL joins, JSONB handling, and safe division patterns.
- Experience with a SQL editor like DataGrip, DBeaver, or similar.
- Comfort navigating a database schema with minimal documentation — you'll use information_schema queries and exploratory joins to figure things out.
- An accounting-minded attention to detail: you care whether two reports are off by $0.01 and you'll dig until you find out why.
- Familiarity with a BI/reporting tool (Metabase, Looker, Mode, or similar).
- Basic understanding of financial concepts: gross vs. net, cost allocation by recipient type, refund attribution, and commission structures.
Nice to Have
- Experience in the tourism, hospitality, or activity booking industry.
- Exposure to booking platforms or reservation management systems.
- Familiarity with reconciliation workflows and month-end close processes.
- Experience building reports that serve as source-of-truth for accounting teams.
When you join our team, you’re stepping into a culture built on momentum, ownership, and clarity of purpose. We move decisively, think boldly, and stay deeply connected to our customers and the people behind the work. Across all our brands, we believe meaningful impact comes from empowered teams, aligned priorities, and unwavering commitment.
Here’s what you can expect:
- High trust, real impact: You’ll have the autonomy and expectation to lead with ownership, tackle problems end-to-end, and make decisions that move the business forward in meaningful ways.
- Curiosity with discipline: We value asking sharp questions, challenging assumptions, and exploring smarter ways to work. We don’t just get things done, but to get them done right for our customers.
- One team, all in: Collaboration beats ego, wins are shared, and we rally together when the work gets tough.
- Space to grow: You’ll be supported and stretched, taking on challenges that build capability, sharpen judgment, and accelerate your growth as a leader and problem-solver.
- Progress with purpose: We move fast, stay focused on what truly matters, and prioritise long-term impact over quick fixes.
You’ll be joining a global team committed to building something that truly matters—and enjoying the ride along the way.
We’d be excited to have you with us. Together, let’s shape the future of the tourism industry.
